Friday 16th October 2009 Much composing and editing this past couple of weeks trying to keep up with what appears to be an enormous work schedule. Think I'm keeping on top of it all but I won't really know until the end of next week. Still, very nice to be so busy! Thursday 1st October 2009 Sorry for the long pause between updates! Been messing around on Facebook and Twitter and forgot about my News Page! So much has been going on recently; we've had Nic's parents over from Australia for the whole of September meaning that I took a lot of time off to do the sightseeing/tourist thing - actually very pleasant! Before that we were on holiday in Portugal and a couple of short breaks in the UK so Studio time has been scarce. I'm working on 5 library albums at the moment which is keeping me very busy and I'm pleased to say that I've been pitching for a few TV ads again! Thought they'd all gone away but there you go! Anyway, check me out on FaceBook as I'm on there most days, and I promise to update my site more frequently in future! CB x Wednesday 17th June 2008 Revamped my MP3 page - take a look here! Had a great meeting yesterday up at Boosey & Hawkes in which the two albums I am working on were accepted. Been given a budget for a string section and a choir too for the film trailer album which is fantastic. Need to get cracking and write some choir parts now. The Euphonix gear didn't work out as I am running OSX 10.11.4 with Logic 7 and they need OSX 11 and Logic 8. Being in the middle of several projects is not the time to start messing around with a perfectly happy system. That way madness lies. The Euphonix sadly had to go back. Thursday 11th June 2009 Still buried in the Studio but having a great time. I need to get some deadlines together I think, even if they aren't real ones, just so that I have a cut-off point and something to work towards. I'm also upgrading the studio with a Euphonix MC Control and MC Mix to replace my Mackie Control Pro. The boys seem to have shaken off the chickenpox and they are getting used to their replacement nanny whilst their usual nanny takes 2 months off to help children in Brazil. What an amazing thing to do! Of course after all that amazingly hot weather we had it's now cold and raining, typical because the tennis season has started and everyone is gearing up for Wimbledon. Thursday 28th May 2009 Been really busy with various albums and tracks and having a great time in the Studio. Feeling very creative and productive at the moment too, which all things considered is a very good thing. Jake has had chickenpox and of course now Ollie has it too, which is fine except that Ollie was awake all night last night (and I mean all night) so Nic and I feel like Zombies today. I'm toying with the idea of an afternoon nap but these things never work out do they! Wednesday 6th May 2009 Well this morning I finished the SciFi tracks I have been working on and they are now on their way to the Publisher. The CD should be out by the end of the Month too so they will be doing their thing asap hopefully. Been great fun to do actually, I love all that stuff! I'm convinced I have that swine flu by the way, or at the very least Man flu. Whenever Jake gets anything he just passes it on to me straight away. I wish he'd keep these things to himself. Wednesday 29th April 2009 Want more up to date news? - I'm now on Facebook and Twitter - just click on one of the boxes below to follow me around! Tuesday 21st April 2009 I'm currently working on some Sci-Fi tracks and an album of Hollywood film trailers and having the best time, really good fun. I shall also be laying down a drum track this week for one of the songs on Doug Boyle's solo album, due for imminent release on CD next Month. We went away for a couple of days over Easter so I switched off a few bits and pieces in the Studio. Guess what? One of the Lexicons refused to switch back on this morning. Why does that always happen? Something else to add to the growing pile of stuff to get repaired and sell I suppose. Oh, and it looks like Spring has finally Sprung here in London. Very hot day today! Friday 10th April 2009 Finished the album 'Pop Rock Euphoria 02' for Boosey & Hawkes and have copies of the CD in my hot sweaty hands. This is the follow up to 'Pop Rock Euphoria' (strange that!) which is doing very well. It's a great feeling when an album is completed and launched and I hope it does well. It's a bit like sending your children off into the World to make their way I suppose. I'm working on another couple of albums at the moment including some Sci-Fi tracks which are the best fun to do. I love all that Bernard Hermann theramin stuff so I'm having a blast! Ollie is now walking everywhere and you can't put him down because he disappears. Jake thinks this is hilarious of course and acts as a sort of Ollie Retriever, which is quite handy. We took them to LegoLand last week and they had a great time. Mind you, so did I! Wednesday 11th March 2009 My latest Boosey & Hawkes album goes to the pressing plant on Monday which is very exciting. Lots of other stuff on the go at the moment too so I'm being kept very busy in the Studio, currently managing to complete three tracks a week. I'm hoping to be able to maintain the three tracks a week thing - I like the feeling of having an album's worth at the end of each Month! Monday 16th February 2009 Lots more tracks under my belt this past couple of weeks and so it looks like I'm nearing completion of at least one of my albums. Great stuff. I also signed the FIFA contracts last week which means it should be on air soon - it's Worldwide too, which is nice. It's Jake's half term this week so I'm taking a bit of time off tomorrow to visit The Wallace Collection in Town, basically suits of armour and swords (or as Jakey puts it, "a Knight's Museum!") He's into all that stuff so it should be fun. Pizza afterwards too! Monday 2nd February 2009 Well it certainly has snowed here in London, they say it's the most snow we've had in 18 years and it certainly looks like it! Nobody could get in to work today and all the schools were shut so basically it was a family holiday. I took the day off too - well I couldn't get to my computer because of the snow. I spent all day outside in the street with Jake having massive snowball fights with the neighbours and Jakey's friends. Great fun and a wonderful family atmosphere. Now we have that wonderful calm, muffled stillness that only snow can bring. As I write this at 7.45pm I can see from my study window that it's snowing again so probably more of the same tomorrow. The skies are lilac and everything is covered in a deep white blanket - very beautiful. Sunday 18th January 2009 This week I have mostly been struck down with Man Flu, which as everyone knows has been scientifically proven to be much worse than the flu that women get. The trouble is that I use my ears all day in the Studio and with a bunged up head I can't hear anything, which is a bit of a problem really because everything comes out sounding really toppy and 'zingy' when I listen back to it with normal ears. I'm feeling a lot better today though but I've still got this damned cough that keeps me (and Nicola) awake all night. Bugger. I'm back in the Studio tomorrow because I need to finish the FIFA music I'm working on. Hopefully my ears will decide to work and I'll be able to crack on with mixing it! Friday 9th January 2009 I'm working on some music for FIFA at the moment and so I had Joanna Forbes over yesterday to do a vocal for me. Fabulous singer and very fast too. Had a bit of a hiccup in the Studio on Wednesday when one of the Apogees decided that it didn't want to switch on but Yan at Gearbox sorted it out over the phone for me. It's very sunny here in the UK at the moment but still very cold. It hasn't really snowed properly yet though, which is a shame. Jake went back to school yesterday (under protest I might add) and I've had to put the old stair gates back because Ollie likes to climb stairs and can manage to get up all three storeys. |
